I was born and raised in Santa Monica, California, before it was glitzy. It was a great place to grow up – I LOVED the beach – but Santa Monica was a big city, and I always knew I was a country girl at heart. I am the youngest of five kids, and both of my parents were educators, so I grew up just knowing that school was the place to be! I came to Utah State for college, and I’ve been in Utah ever since.

Professionally, SchoolAI was able to condense my six-page resume into a single paragraph FAR better than I could have!

Dorothy Dobson is a dedicated educator with a rich background in elementary and special education. With years of experience at various schools, including Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning, she has a knack for integrating arts, history, and science into the curriculum to make learning engaging and meaningful. Dorothy has played roles ranging from classroom teacher to administrator, and she loves crafting educational experiences that inspire both students and teachers. Her work in curriculum development and professional development for educators has been recognized with
multiple awards. Outside the classroom, Dorothy enjoys contributing to educational publications and presenting at conferences, where she shares her insights on innovative
teaching strategies.

In addition, I served on the Promontory School Governing Board for six years (with my
term just ending in June). I have a tough time retiring, so I am incredibly excited to
return to Promontory as the Expedition Expert.

My husband is a retired (happily) administrator in Cache County School District. He has an airplane named Pearl, a shop with a plethora of tools, and a dog named Catch. I
have a love for the musical “Hamilton” (and many other Broadway plays), a home with both a garden outside and books inside, and a dog named Tater. We love our home,
traveling, our daughter Hannah, and our three beautiful grandchildren!
